    2. Nope, just meant to stop the wings flexing too much on landing. The main wheels handle all the load.

      Now, on the U-2, the wings, on landing, were supported by guys in pickup trucks.

  3. Naw, it was training wheels for bomber pilots. The B-47 had them too.

  4. Center-Line trucks (main gear wheels) and stabilizing outboard gear. The b-47 & B-52 use a similar design.
