Longship

Sailing from Norway, to Shetland Islands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland - just like the Vikings did a 1000 years ago, and into the St Lawrence Seaway, trough the locks and into the Great Lakes.

  1. Some great footage in the last vid. I would love to have that experience to talk about.

  2. That's quite an adventure: construction through sailing. It's something worthy of a "life's work" when you take it all in. Excellent.

  3. There is a diesel engine below decks, mandated by Norway's marine safety regs. The Matthew re-enacted John Cabot's voyage in 1997, with no internal combustion cheating.

  4. The construction video was fascinating. An awful lot of skilled labor went into that project.
Seeing it afloat makes me appreciate the achievements of Norse raiders. Imagine the motivation, hardiness and spirit required for their forays.
