Close call at the Barcelona Airport

Via Free North Carolina

Yesterday, early in the morning...What you see is what happened.

An UTair Boeing 767-300 (VQ-BSX) incoming from Moscow as UT5187 and Aerolíneas Argentinas Airbus A340-300 (LV-FPV) were involved into what could have been the biggest disaster in the history of Barcelona Airport.

The Utair 767 was about to land on Runway 02 when the Argentine plane inexplicably decided to cross the runway.  Like my parents used to say, always look both ways!

When the Russian pilots sighted the Argentine plane pulling out right in front of them they made an emergency maneuver to fly over and avoid the South American jet.

Later, the Russians landed safely on runway 02, and the Argentines took-off for Buenos Aires.  The Russians saved the day this time.
