CW, I don't think that's necessarily the case. Most of the Crow had similar features and were a tall, handsome people who wore their hair long. You never know if there is a trapper in the coal pile, but I suspect not. It's easy to tell a Crow from that period from the photo alone.
I'm kinda joking, but after posting all these Indian pictures lately, I've been struck by the sheer variety of appearance they display. Some look very much asiatic, others, like Curley, much more European. Quite the variety.
I have heard that the Crow were a very entertaining people, and if you had to choose a tribe to winter over with, they were the ones. Supposedly they had a ribald sense of humor.
The Souix/Cheyenne and Crow didn't get along.
