And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

World's most beautiful car (so far). And that color - whew!
Organic shapes such as that Jag always look best to me...don't like the angular stuff so much. Same with motorcycles...much prefer the organic shapes of my Bonneville to plastic origami.
It is all in perception. My "Most Beautiful" is the 76 Porsche 912. The 911 is a fine car but the 4 cylinder boxer has handling and fuel economy. The engine can be built to 200 HP with ease and it will get 30 mpg. The 911 is a bit of HP overkill.
I’ve always thought that the XKE, along with the XK120 and XK140 were designed with the body shape of silk draped over a reclining woman’s body. Beautiful in both form and function.
Not with those wheels and the '50s Ferrari grille. Here's Top Gear celebrating the 50th anniversary of the E-Type by driving the first convertible and the Eagle Speedster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66owXqZaexs&t=477s
Make those wheels 24 inches and you'll have a bidding war with Portland's pimps.
ReplyDeleteBut it's a FAGuar....?!
ReplyDeleteThere was a time this company was ok...as were their cars.
DeleteThat's a good name. I like it!

ReplyDeleteLiterally one of the most beautiful cars I've seen. Probably still a crap engine always needing repairs, but looks great parked.

ReplyDeleteI've got a Jaaag.
ReplyDeleteHeh.... yeah, I loved the way Jeremy Clarkson used to say that. "Sorry I ran over your dog.... but I have a Jaaaagg....."
DeleteMe too, S-Type, Pacific Blue, cream leather, birds eye maple trim.

Is that original or a custom "new build" car using bits of an original body with modern components?
ReplyDeleteYes, it’s a ‘74 E type Jag. Bumpers, hood (bonnet) and paint are custom as is the color. The wheels are also custom and are horrendous IMHO.
DeleteAgree the wheels gotta go and the bonnet with the scoop too!
Delete2019, SEMA, the Foose built 74 Jag. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2019/11/chip-foose-did-something-with-this-e.html
ReplyDeleteRuined by horrible wheels.
ReplyDeleteI agree, a big part of the Joy here is nostalgia, and the low pro ruins that.
DeleteThat color on the maserratti previously, would get my vote...the lines on that maserratti are exceptional

Way back in the 70s, the joke was that "Everyone should own two. One to drive while the other is in the shop".
ReplyDeletePretty sure that was Chip Foose's work. Too bad. He really wrecked one of the truly perfect car designs.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, he started with a Series 3 E-type, which had ugly bumper overriders and other stuff added to the original clean E-Type design.
DeleteRaise your hand if you've ever ridden in a car with giant wheels and rubber bands for tires. Better make sure all your dental work is in there solid.
ReplyDeleteIf only it had a watch on the bonnet!
