And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Those 2+ inch thick Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter catalogues were hell for the mailman. The only thing worse was phone book day because everyone got one.
please note how clean the parking lot is. since it is night, I can't credit the maint. crew, maybe a more civilized community? Dennis the librarian shusher
When I got in there you must have go the last one so I had to buy the 16 gauge. Still out in my shop and I haven't shot it for over 50 years. And don't think I will.---ken
I've still got the 12-gauge that my bride's Dad bought in the early '60s. He died in a car crash shortly after that. It was given to me by a family member who had held it in trust ever since. He refinished the stock and it looks just like new.
If I remember right, they were made for Montgomery Ward by Savage. It's a pretty neat old heirloom. Works great for shooing mistletoe out of oak trees!
I’m old enough to remember walking out of our towns store with a 22 pump gun. My dad wrote the permission “note” to buy it. He also had a friend that sold appliances there. Bought a house and raised a family on those wages. That’s how old I am…….
Before Malls back in the 1950s we'd get a fresh Monkey Ward catalogue in the mail twice a year.
ReplyDeleteI can see that people parked badly then as now.😊
ReplyDeleteYou beat me to it. Jeff C in NC

Cleaner parking lot & better maintained ... but parking ability wasn't any better than today
DeleteThere was no fast food take out for monkeys to throw out of their car windows whenever they pull to a stop.
Delete"I'll be right back. I've just got to run in and buy that Western Field 12-gauge bolt action shotgun I've been wanting. I'll just be a minute."

Looks like the mall that was Shepherd Mall in Oklahoma City back in the 1960s. The "scalloped" entrance on that building is very familiar to me.
ReplyDeleteChristown Mall. Phoenix. Christmas 1962.
DeleteWell its at least 1962 or 63 based on the T-Bird.
