Looks like he has a snorkel, but still killed it?

  1. Maybe he's trying to attach a tow cable? Most years the Camel Trophy Land Rovers were equipped with winches.

  2. A lot of people forget you have to snorkel the exhaust as well.

  3. Might be water got in the distributor, hard to make them totally waterproof.

    1. Hard to get a distributor wet when there isn’t one. The vehicles used for Camel were diesel.

    1. Abuse. Those old Defenders would go about anywhere. Most used military vehicle in most of the planet

  5. IIRC, if you stall the motor like that, you can't drive it away. Something about not being able to de-clutch when submerged. And, you can't start it in gear, as that is too much mass to move with the starter when that deep.
