If conditions are right, in the morning there's about a five minute window when the alpenglow from the rising sun makes everything this color. The snow fields on Mt. Shasta glow.

  1. In Santa Fe, New Mexico, its the sunset that gets the snow on the mountain to glow red. Thus the Spanish called the mountains Sangre de Christo, blood of Christ. Its amazing on some winter evenings just how deep red the snow appears.

    1. Wow, cool! I always like the Caltrans webcam from McCloud in the winter. Always seems to be snowy.
