And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Wow, but you know they'd scuff the first day you wore them
While that style of shoe is not my cup of tea, I have to admit that I used shoe trees in my shoes for decades. Thankfully, my New Balance hiking boots don't need them.
They have the appearance of a Johnston Murphy shoe, though a step or two up in craftsmanship. I've two pairs of Johnston Murphys that I've had since I was in my early thirties. Shoe trees, as noted above, a weekly polish, and two trips to the cobbler and they're still going strong.
There's one seam; it runs vertically behind the heel. (I had a pair that looked just like these from Allen Edmonds. I scuffed them the first day I wore them...)
A 16 year old asks: Who makes them Nike of Adidas?
ReplyDeleteDay? I'd scuff them in the first nanosecond.
ReplyDeleteI’m gonna step out on a limb and guess that if you can afford them scuffs are the least of your concerns…
ReplyDeleteNever trust somebody that would wear such a thing.
ReplyDeleteI'd wear them, but I wouldn't pay 1000 bucks (at least) for a pair...

ReplyDeleteIf you know how to properly care for leather footwear, you're not afraid of scuffs.

ReplyDeleteNo seams, how do they make 'em?

DeleteI bought a pair of Italian tassel wing back loafers 35 years ago. A classic design that is always in style. They were pricey and comfortable.
ReplyDeleteMy ankles hurt just looking at them.
ReplyDeletevery gay looking, eh?
