And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Works perfectly for two eggs of a morning. Ask me how I know.
That pan is always the perfect size for tucking into a backpack, and more than worth the weight penalty. It'll do eggs or panfish with equal ease, and doing the bacon and sausage first at breakfast is how you grease the skillet for the eggs.
The wife has about a dozen of these 4" Mini Skillets in which she makes a cast-iron chocolate-chip cookie. A similar recipe and pictures here. She'll bake them when she entertains her girlfriends.
Cast iron is wonderful stuff. Can be used on inside stove or on the outside grill or even over a fire.
Anon 10:03 AM - I have one of those little 'cookie baking kit' skillets as well, found it at a Salvation Army. Very shallow, about a 1/4" deep so it can't take too much volume, but the size itself lends itself to a pack like peas and carrots. Well worth seeking out, bet a single burner gas stove would be very accommodating.
I have three of those. They make good omelettes too. And the lids from the Revere Ware pots fit perfectly for sunny side up.
ReplyDeletedo you use the oven or stove for sunny side up?
ReplyDeleteYou use the campfire.
