And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Beaten with the ugly stick, but the personality makes it attractive.
Back when that stupid gun shop Red Jacket was on the air, they'd do something idiotic like slap an EO Tech red dot on there and spot weld a flashlight on the bottom. Me? I'd leave it as-is, it was designed for the spray-n-pray school of combat shooting.
Using the higher power 9mm (Brit issue) sights are good to 100 yards so close enough is truly good enough. Weight is enough to control in all situations.
Sterling. Its lineage started with the German MP18 and 28. Then the British copy of the Lanchester then into the Sten and finally the Sterling. Im almost sure….
It's a Sterling, the STEN has a safety notch in the slot so you can lock the bolt open and it never had a folding stock. I've read that the British had 30 million STEN 'stick' magazines left over after WWII so the Sterling was designed to use both the stick magazine or the curved Sterling magazine as seen in this pic. Search 'forgotten weapons sterling' and Ian will tell you all about them. Al_in_Ottawa
Good info. The 9MM pistola boolette in military clothing is fair to good for its intended use, and the more you can put on and near the target the better when attacking.
100,000 Imperial stormtroopers can't be wrong, but the Sterling is definitely the quintessentially example of British ugly-for-its-own-sake gunsmithing.
Form follows function. Do want.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteUgly? Hardly.. The Essence of efficiency and elegance. Not a single bead of weld was wasted.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I'm beholding beauty.
DeleteHorizontal profile is great while crawling and hugging the dirt.

ReplyDeleteYeah it really screams for some tacti-cool crapola on it….
DeleteHas adequate sites, definitely needs a light. Shit happens in low/no light situations. I don't have $30,000 for night vision.
DeleteQuintessential grease gun
ReplyDeleteInexpensive and effective, if you’re close anyway.

DeleteA bit shiny for my liking. Drab paint would be a easy fix.
ReplyDeleteA well made STEN (some were really ugly cheaply made) or a Sterling?

DeleteBeen thirty years since I've shot a Sten subgun, but this looks to be even less friendly to left-handers.

I just watched the Forgotten Weapons episode on Sterling a couple of days ago. Great timing.
Deletethought it to be, going back to my teens and "small arms of the world"

ReplyDeleteI'd rather have the L34 suppressed version
