And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ani ruins, just across the Armenian border in Turkey
The Turks have let many of the Armenian churches go to ruin with intent. It is the Armenian genius of architecture that created the large open space by using four arches connecting and covered with a dome. Armenian architects were hired to build many of the great cathedrals of Europe using this technology and extending it to great length with successive arches. May we enjoy this view as one day it may also be left to ruin.
