  1. 56 coupe, had one, it was shot but then thats half the fun. too bad everything is self service today, tell a youngster to fill the gas and watch him search for the gas filler.
Gold star for the 1st one to tell me where it is and how to open it.

    1. did the '55s and '57s have that feature?

    2. The chrome end of the '57 left hand fin pivoted sideways toward the center of the car to expose the gas cap. I had about 7 of those. Had a '56 2dr HT, but not long, so I don't recall how to do that one. No idea on the '55.

  2. Back in the day, I saw one like this parked at the college. It was beautifully finished and had four on the floor. I popped the hood to sea what was under there and it was a six.

    1. You could mount pretty much any chevy trans to any chevy engine back in the day. The fact that so much of their parts and components was compatible made Chevies cheap to hotrod, as apposed to Ford. Ford had a deliberate corporate policy to make virtually everything incompatible.

  3. We had a 56 Bel Air, white & black sedan. No A/C, sold it when we moved back home to Jackson, MS for a 64 Impala with A/C.

    1. The tail lights are custom too. I replaced the bland factory tail lights on my 1956 Ford with Old's bullet shaped ones. When you were young things like that made you feel good.

    2. 58 Edsel front clip on a 57 or 58 ranchero looks sweet. Replace taillights with mercury wagon taillights of the same vintage and voila, instant custom with little to no body mods needed.
