And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I do. I can still see the boxes they came in, too. As a kid, it was something really special to decorate the Christmas tree with these and other beautiful, but very delicate glass ornaments. I remember gently lifting them out and placing them on a branch end hoping not to break any of them and vice versa when Christmas was over. There was something then about Christmas being a season and not the crass commercial period it is now.
After taking over the grandparent's old place imagine my surprise in finding 1940's authentic bubbling Christmas lights up in the attic and they still work!
We had one of those for decades and only retired it when the grandkids came along - we switched to an angel.
