And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I haven't seen tinsel in decades. I love Christmas and the Christmas Spirit, but I don't regret not decorating with tinsel any longer. My next quest: Eliminating glitter.
I love a Christmas tree (has to be real, not artificial) and have a large and beautifully decorated one in our home but when you think about it, what a ridiculous thing to do, cutting a beautiful living tree down and bringing it indoors for a couple of weeks only to throw it out with the trash (or compost it) at the end of festivities.
Yes, it is ridiculously wasteful all the way around and that's why we've used the same artificial tree since 1986. We have had up to 3 cats hiding up inside it at one time, one of them weighed 22 lbs. You like the Christmas Tree smell? Get a $4 candle.
If it's grown for the purpose and then recycled into compost it isn't particularly wasteful, also keeps people employed but the idea of having a tree indoors is what seems ridiculous to me.
Wishing all ya'll a very Merry Christmas 2023 and a Happy 2024 New Year!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas. But 2024 is gonna be totally bogus.

ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that 2024 is going to be a disaster beyond belief.

ReplyDeleteRegardless, Merry Christmas to all.
My dad put tinsel on one strand at a time and it looked amazing. I hope I get to see him again so I can apologize for not appreciating all he did.
