And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? hard to say. "Formal" attire points more to Commandos. Fairbairn Sykes knife was issued to Commandos & SAS. I believe a winged dagger is the emblem of SAS.
Had a Sykes. Lent it to a friend with the caveat that he bring it back to me safe. Off he went to war. Saw him about 2 years later. He was embarrassed to tell me he'd "left it in someone." Knowing him and those he fought, likely someone richly deserving of being slivered. Still, would like to have it back.
The SAS badge/Emblem is a winged Sword of Damocles....Their 'Parachute Qualified' badge are the wings of an Ibis..Hope that helps clear up any confusion..
