  1. Seeing the "Super Connie" airplane reminds me of a story that my sainted mother told me many years ago. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany in the mid-1940's. My father had been assigned to getting the Berlin Airlift program on the drawing boards "just in case"... Anyway, three years later, my father was reassigned and had to move us back to the US. Our transportation for the return was an L-1049G Super Constellation airplane.

  5. Had a '59 Buick Electra when I went to college. Driving the interstate during heavy snow conditions was no problem because it had such great traction. I would have had to really work at it to get it stuck. Bonus - you could lay down on the seat and not have head or feet hitting the door handles on either side.

  7. Ike's Connie is in the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Always loved that bird, since the Disney show about a kid getting his 'pilots license' flying a Constellation.
Back in the 60's had to be on the Mickey Mouse Club.

  8. Caught a ride in one in 1952. My mom got sick and the stew kept passing donuts to me in front of her. Lucky we made it with dry laps. Too bad I was too young to remember. Just heard the stories.
