    1. How can you tell that's a 1948?

    2. two things made be make the assumption. first is the springer front end is stock and the last year of the springer was 1948. '49 was the first year of the hydraglide front forks. second is the frame. the downtubes (the frame tubes at the front of the frame) are wishbone style (or as some called them, dogleg). this was the style of frame consistent with a 1948 panhead. hence my 'educated' assumption.

    3. Thank you. I didn't know any of that and I rode a 1960 panhead for about 30 years.

  2. I had a Columbia bicycle with a front suspension like that. Weighed about 200 pounds.
