And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Texas is still to be seen and toured outside Houston, though currently undergoing refurbishment.
ReplyDeleteThe ship is in dry dock for some very serious repairs. It will not return to Houston. I think it will go to Galveston.
ReplyDeleteThat USS Texas is not the current USS Texas (BB-35). She was commissioned in 1914, served in both world wars and was decommissioned in 1948.
