And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? “Pleasant Burden” (1895) by french painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau
The nuance and detail level in this art blows me away. Things like the skin folds over the knuckles, the area around the little girl's toenails, the way the colors change slightly in the corners of their eyes. Tiny details that make it practically a photograph.
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteBoth have intense eyes.
Would love to hang that on my wall.
He ain heavy, he's my brother.
ReplyDeleteA lovely painting exuding love and beauty.
ReplyDeleteBack when painting was an art.

ReplyDeleteWow! I had never heard of Bouguereau, but this is definitely a classic!
ReplyDeleteSee, this is actual ART, not what passes for it at the local "art gallery".
