  2. The top two photos are of (the second) Bidwell Bar Bridge, which crosses lake Oroville near the location of the town for which it was named. The original Bidwell Bar Bridge was built in the 1850s and was also a suspension bridge, one of the first built in California. This bridge was moved to higher ground before the lake was filled and is in use today as a pedestrian bridge.

The first time I saw the new Bidwell Bar Bridge I was coming down a ridge to the east toward the lake from Feather Falls and saw the bridge's profile off in the distance. At the time I thought "Wow, you can see clear to the Golden Gate Bridge from here" and chuckled.

  4. California has doubled it's population in the last 50 years or so, yet they haven't increased water supply by a single drop. They should have finished building the planned reservoirs.

    1. Most of it will go there regardless, since there aren't enough reservoirs to keep it.
