  4. A few years earlier than that one, the 1958 Cadillac weighed 8,800 pounds. The front bumper was 800 of that. Even with a 390 V8 it was slow as a Renault 4CV and handled like an elephant on roller skates.

    Today, a 3,800 pound car is considered a whale. People don't remember that they used to use mass to improve the ride. Ones who bought Cadillacs didn't care if it took 15 minutes to get up to highway speed!

    1. My F-Superduty crew cab with a diesel engine that is almost a thousand pounds only weighs in at 7600 if the scales at the local dump are accurate.

  5. had a rich aunt and uncle who bought new caddies every other year. auntie did all the driving. remember one like the pic that they had.
