The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Nothing I can point to online, and I won't say bears never eat honey, but fellow beeks who've had their hives ravaged by bears in NE WA and north Idaho will tell you that bears go after their brood frames, not honey.
So my claim is anecdotal, but some of these old guys have been keeping bees for decades.
Despite anything Winnie says, they're in it for the protein of the brood, not the carbohydrates of the honey.
