Suethes III, Thracian King of what is now part of Bulgaria, late third century BC.

The bronze bust is so lifelike it seems the king could suddenly turn and look at you and bark out orders.  Spooky.  Plus, it well captures Suethes' warlike personality, a necessary characteristic to long survive in that position.

The skill it took to create this in the late 300's BC is very impressive.

  1. What if these really old people groups were really smarter than we are now? The opposite of evolution. Original man created with everything we now see spread out in all peoples? Secular heresy. hahaha

  3. It's also amazing to see what will last 2300 years.

I saw a wooden carving of a girl in Pharoah's court that was equally lifelike, 4000 years old, and it had a similar effect on me.
