  1. No way I’m letting Amazon host video of my property, and my coming and goings.

  2. i've got 1 on the front door and 1 on the garage. i wouldn't put anything like that inside the house, but we're happy with them

  3. Just remember, after you install it, to de-list from the 'Amazon Sidewalk' or whatever it is they are calling the Borg these days.

  4. So, what happens when it gets hacked, and you're hosting a live show called "Your Family" for some perv, or a future burglar?

    Just wondering...

  5. Got 4 of them. The motion sensitivity takes some fiddling with and the battery life (2 years) is WILDLY optimistic but video quality is good, NV as well and the wifi reach is surprising. My furthest camera is an easy 50 yards from the house and signal is still good.

  6. Not so great on a foggy night. None of mine had 2 yr battery life. Spiders keep setting them off.

    1. How long were the batteries lasting?

    2. Batteries on mine, have 4, last about three months.

    3. Maybe they meant the battery lasts for two years but you have to charge it weekly? After two years, you have to replace it?

  7. All of those warnings about Amazon or some miscreant hacking into your privacy...and "they" blissfully continue to say nice things about these things.

  8. There are other options. Don’t even think about going this route. You monitoring while being monitored is a no go….

  9. Be careful with anything wireless from Amazon. Buddy of mine is a security guru - set up a wireless collection system with Wireshark to monitor Amazon devices in his house. Lots of "unexpected" traffic on a regular basis. I shut down all of my Amazon devices after that.

  10. Interesting, but the local storage problem is a deal breaker. I don't want ANYTHING from my home going to anyone's cloud server. You and I both know that data is for sale.

  11. You don't have to have a subscription that uses cloud storage. I use a thumb drive with mine though it is slower to view a clip. That said I still do not trust google.

  12. Only wired cameras to a dvr. Stay off the net.
