And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
They were never meant to be raced. Just a truck to where it needed to go, get the job done and get back and carry everything it needed. I had a 68 IH and was slow as hell but it started every cold as ass morning and kept driving until I got it home.
I owned three back in the day. With a 396 cu V-8 they were adequate. What set them apart was their ability to go down rough dirt roads 10-20 mph faster than other brands without shaking your teeth, or load.
All mine ever did was run like shit, leak and go slow. I had a Bronco at the same time and preferred it for rough or muddy roads in eastern Colorado. Sad day when I sold the Stude in 95, not sad when I said bye to the IH the same year. Should have let them both go long before that.
Looks like John Wayne?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that appears to be 'The Duke' to me too.

Great name for IH. We called them "row-binders" in the south.
ReplyDeleteAlso known as 13 letter shit spreader.
DeleteI see he got the IH fashion accessory package, too.
ReplyDeleteMost underpowered vehicle I ever had. Not everything that was old school was worth a damn.
