  1. Is this some kind of joke? Grenade holes? Fill the chimney with barbed wire? Also, 2 layers of sandbags on the 2nd floor would put you on the in the basement unless your floor system is designed for library loads.

    1. I think that's from a UK publication, so Defence is the correct spelling, for them.

  3. Actually, Matthew in European Warzones this stuff actually was done. Happening NOW in the Ukraine.

But then again American homes are mostly 2X4 and sheetrock, so I understand your your confusion about trying to defend a mostly flammables and glass American home.

If you're fighting from a stone or concrete house, it's quite an effective way to make the attacker pay full price.

  4. I've seen similar information published in US Military training manuals, especially those written during the Cold War where the expected battle ground was going to be Germany.

  5. You're better off defending a building from the outside. It's a lot harder to E&E when things go south if you're inside.

  8. These kind of things are not instruction booklets, more of idea generators. Should get you thinking about what you CAN do in your situation.

  9. So where are you supposed to live after you gut and destroy your crib?
If things got bad enough to where this stuff is worth considering it's time to just pack up and haul ass. Plaster filled sand bags on the floor. sheeyeah right

    1. Early 20th C homes here in the US used that plaster wall construction. That is some heavy crap, so I can see filling bags with it. Gonna be cold when you get done, and it will allow bullets to pass thru much easier, once you get down to just the exterior surface.

  11. If you are "defending" your home like this then you made some very bad decisions. Because unless you are defending against only one or two incompetent attackers you are
going to lose. At the very least if they can't overcome your defenses to ransack your place they will BURN IT DOWN with you in it.

    1. Correct.
In the city when you park the car, don't lock the doors and don't leave anything in it that you'd miss.
Don't fortify your home. Build a pillbox. Better, move.

In Kansas, they insure the house and dig a storm cellar. Same idea.

  12. A couple of "bangs" from a tank or artillery piece and it was all for nothing.

  13. It's not YOUR crib. It is a German town building, using MOUT techniques from the 1980s. It is probably a graphic from a DK Books publication, with info drawn from a typical 80s MOUT manual. It is real, the techniques and tactics are real. Use some METT for your own AO.
