  1. Yep. Can't comment on the brand but I have 3 grinders and the Ryobi 18v cordless probably gets used the most. Grab it and go, no cords to get in the way. If I have to do some heavy duty stuff (say, cut 1/2" steel plate) I use my corded Porter Cable - it's a wild assed bearcat.

  2. My Milwaukee version has an indexible shield. I can unlock it and rotate to a better angle for optimum cutting.

    1. Shield? The first thing I did was to take them things off.

    2. If it can be easily re-positioned there is less need to remove it. Only takes a couple seconds to do. Blade needs to come off to do that, but no biggie. Having the guard on allows you to set it down immediately, instead of having to wait for it to stop spinning. Also protects the blade when it is sitting around. I've broken a few due to the missing guard, and that is annoying, especially when it is the last one on hand.
