  3. Maybe it's just the way the jacket is hanging, but that girl looks like she's about six months pregnant.

  4. Explain, please, to a city boy why it is that girls and young women appear to be entranced by horses and not boys and young men.

    1. I vaguely recall a television program in the 80s that claimed the attraction to horses was a sublimation of the attraction to boys. Girls are attracted to size and strength, which horses embody well, but are wary of boys because of all the sexual issues.

      Sounded plausible at the time.

    2. A friend who's wife and daughter both had life long fascination with horses put it well. Horses bewitch women.

    3. Parents who don't want their daughters to mess around with boys get them 1200 pound vibrators to play with instead. In the case of the above Shire, make it 2200 pound.
In all seriousness, being involved with horses gives them a sense of security and allows them to build a good self esteem and learn to control their lives and the things in it. A horse will obey willingly to a kind yet firm personality. Youth involved with horses learn the importance of responsibility, routine and good habits, strong character and most importantly, inner peace that comes from the warmth and unqualified love that a horse imparts back to its partner.

  5. Girls learn how to control large powerful beasts when working with horses - that gives them a sense of self worth and confidence. We have a niece who was very timid and shy as a youngster, but after she rode horses and competed in events, she got to be very self confident and poised. My wife was never shy and timid, but she gained a lot of strength from working with horses as a young teen - mucking stalls, putting up hay, carrying water to them in the winter. It also gave her a sense of purpose and responsibility.
