And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Famine Stela in Ancient Egypt, 1708(or thereabouts) BC.
Read about rocks uncovered at extreme low water in creeks and rivers that have writing on them, often centuries old, carved by people about draught and famine times way back then. Sort of an "if you can see this, you are in trouble" warning, I guess.
My son has a theory that technological civiliztions have arisen several times only to be completely destroyed leaving nothing behind except that which is carved in stone. He also has a theory that the rapture already happened and so few people got called up that nobody even noticed.
Google translates that as 'We've been trying to get in touch with you about your chariots extended warranty"...
