And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Excellent Living Space
Imagine it snowing hard outside, sitting there with a coffee and perhaps a dog curled up at the feet, fire in the fireplace (it's behind the camera, I'm guessing).
Those are longleaf pine found in the Deep South, so not too great a chance of snow. Absolutely miserable in summer. Give me four real seasons with one of them featuring goodly quantities of snow and a temperate summer any time!
Thanks a lot. My wife and I are contemplating an enclosed deck, and I thought we had it whittled down to a couple of 3 choices. Probably best I don't show her this one.
I prefer to imagine myself never, ever being anyplace where it's snowing hard. Or at all, if possible.

DeleteAgreed. Except...one night in Arkansas my tent was covered in snow. I was warm as toast in my tent and down bag. The my dog had to pee...
DeleteThat's an enclosed porch. The fireplace is inside the house.
ReplyDeleteEnclosed and uninsulated.
DeleteWe used a Kerosun@ heater on ours in Plattsburgh, NY.
DeleteAlternatively imagine sitting there watching the roaring flames of a woodland fire tearing towards you!
ReplyDeleteWhat's on the bottom of that ceiling fan?
ReplyDeleteThose look like white bark birch on the right of the picture which would indicate a more northerly clime.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the roll of paper towels and the large bottle of Windex for all of those dog nose marks - trust me.

ReplyDeleteIf that was when I was still married, no one would be allowed in there.
