And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ryan STM-S2 on floats with Dutch East Indies insignia over South Bay, San Diego
Here's another nice Ryan, Photo Number 3: http://www.historicaircraftrestorationmuseum.org/museumhangar3.html Beautiful Easter egg paint! This one has a non-standard engine conversion, and if I remember the airplane's display placard correctly it said the objective was more speed, but the engine was significantly heavier than the standard engines, and that not only raised the stall / landing speed, but also radically narrowed the useful-speed range.
