Maybe a good idea, especially later this summer.

  1. That would do it for me, the dual fuel sold me as propane will sit quietly for years just waiting to be used....gasoline wants attention! Not too loud at 61dB.

  2. A generator is nice security. That one costs about twice what my Troybilt 5500 watt one cost ($495 10 years ago - haven't looked lately). That reminds me. I need to order the conversion kit (about $100) to make it run on propane. We have a 400 gal propane tank and about 10 of the 20 lbr's. Beware, generators are very heavy. More than you think.

  3. A caution from a small engine expert: Propane burns MUCH hotter than gasoline, so attention to cooling air is critical. Even with proper cooling, you can still burn out valves in short order. As noted though, propane will store forever, gas will not.

  4. I've a 6Kw(running) 120vac powered by an air cooled one cyl. Lambordini diesel that I repurposed from a OTR truck APU. It was new when I got it. old but automated. I can refuel the tank from my Pickup or pump the tank into my pickup.compact, packaged in aluminum diamond plate and works like a champ. it is NOT exceptionally quiet.
