And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Not too bad. It's the depthing that takes effort to design. But there are only 4 transitions. At least in this view. Crank, idler, to the cluster. I assume the big gears on the outter circle are geared to the top ones... Looks like cam shafts driven by the crank in the center...
Though the pic is not the Antikythera device, the Antikythera mechanism is one of the most amazing stories I've ever read. Utterly fascinating that 2000 years ago a navigational device was invented that tracked, with the utmost precision, the sun, moon, planets, etc., and accurately calculated eclipses. Incredible. Check the YouTube documentaries.

ReplyDeleteBritish 14 cyl. sleeve engine(a guess)...........from WWII
ReplyDeleteIt's a Bristol Hercules radial 1650HP at 1250RPM. Now where did we put that timing kit?
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the change gears on my mini lathe. Shees.
