And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Took a train ride out West once (Empire Builder). Totally different view of the country than you get on the highway. Once past the Missouri River, you wind up going thru the back 40 (or equivalent) of the Great Plains ranches and farms, and along the tracks on each ranch were all the old cars the farmer had ever owned. Never junked, just parked "out back". A guy with a carmaker and a pocket of $100 bills could have gathered any number of vintage cars and trucks that you wanted.
Some people would think that's a candidate for restoration.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but I'd wanna see the other side.
ReplyDeleteShiprock NM. It's the rez so it's probably still there. There's probably a few dozen other ones laying around.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of places out in the Great Basin that still have clearly visible wagon train tracks. Things are slow to change out here.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the rolling chassis and drivetrain have been swiped already.
