And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I need to build myself something like this on some remote plot of land
Lived in a place similar to this...vertical log cabin 1 mile off a "drivable" goat path in the western mountains of Maine. So quiet there one could hear the snow fall on the ground. Woke one morning staring at a great horned owl that told me it was time to leave, so I did. It was the early 70's. You did what the door mouse said.
1. Find the land 2. Put the cabin there (if it's off a road the 1st thing ought to be a place to park the truck) 3. Outhouse (a portapotty can be dumped into a covered hole if you feel you need to hide it) 4. Water https://www.twdb.texas.gov/publications/brochures/conservation/doc/RainwaterHarvestingManual_3rdedition.pdf https://www.berkeyfilters.com/ if you have a stream... https://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/hydraulic-ram-pump-zmaz79mjzraw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9W0zx2D7aU http://www.inthefieldministries.org/jscalhou/Home%20Built%20Hydraulic%20Ram%20Pumps.pdf https://www.instructables.com/Hydraulic-Ram-Pump/
Being raised out in the country and always having wood burning stoves, at seven years old it was my job to start the fire in the early winter morning. It gives me the willies to see all that burnable stuff so damn close to the stove and stovepipe.
Nice, but the electric light spoils it. A kerosene lantern fits more in.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice picture - thanks for submitting it.
The way things are currently going on this planet a plot on Mars sounds better and better.
ReplyDeleteNo pizza...
DeleteS'OK, I've got a pizza stone.
DeleteThe Dream....righ there.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteBut you can only run so far; the monster is one step behind you.
Kill the monster.

Why mount the fire extinguisher ABOVE the likely fire locations?!?
ReplyDeleteSo you can reach through the flames to get it?
DERP
Fire extinguishers belong next to the exit so you can decide to fight the fire or boogie outta there.
I have two here. You saying you don't?
ReplyDeleteI live in like the territory. It needs a telescope.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous room but not too safely set up. I have a few other photos of this place and would love to live there. Think it has wifi?
ReplyDeleteI would worry that a pillow or blanket would fall too close to that fire. The extinguisher is too high to meet code
