  2. My bucket list wants me to see one of these up close and personal before I pass on.
    I'd also like to witness one taking off in person too.
    And if I could sit in the front seat for a complete flight I'd be ready to crossover.

    2. I didn't know they (it) had been retired from service as an air tanker so recently. I don't recall ever hearing about one flying in California, and I've payed pretty close attention to this kind of thing over the last 30 years.
      I was also surprised that the Hawaii Mars had been flown by Coulson, who is still going strong.

  4. In 1973 on a surf exploration trip this behemoth touched down on the lake we were driving next to on Vancouver Island. It was GLORIOUS!
