Bear attack at Chugach State Park in Alaska

"59-year-old Susanne Knudsen of Indian was wearing headphones and did not have bear deterrent of any kind as she was jogging near the popular Bird Creek Campground, amid Chugach State Park, located between Anchorage and Girdwood.
Knudsen told troopers she saw two brown bear cubs come out of the brush in front of her: a cub started to come toward her, and then she was hit from behind by the mother bear.
She suffered “serious” injuries to her back and bites and puncture wounds to her neck, but the bears disappeared into the woods almost immediately.
Knudsen had cellphone reception and was able to call 911 at 10:20 a.m. Before emergency responders even arrived, a group of all-terrain vehicle riders participating in a tour operated Alaska ATV Adventures happened by.
An employee headed back to the parking lot to wait for a trooper from Girdwood to arrive, then let the trooper borrow an ATV and led emergency responders to the exact location of the attack.
Knudsen was transported from a nearby parking lot to Providence Alaska Medical Center where she is receiving emergency medical treatment. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening."

  1. "God protects fools and drunks". Glad she fell into one of the categories.

    1. Never find yourself between a mother bear and her cubs.
