Excellent point. Imagine grabbing your .22 every day and going for squirrel or grouse, and the 25 06 for deer, or the 12 gauge for turkey. That would be heaven.
Corn is cheap at roadside farm stands. How much would you need to run a profitable still, and would the money you made be enough to pay property taxes?
Aside: My maternal grandfather ran a still in the midwest back in the day. He was run out of business by some other, meaner moonshiners that threatened his life during a short, involuntary car ride.
