And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Not a Mark IX, which had a Merlin engine. It's a later model Spit, perhaps a Mk XIV which had a Griffon engine and 5-blade wooden prop; and the Griffon engine rotated its prop in the opposite direction to that of the earlier Merlin engine.
Spitfire Mk XIV, you can tell by the rounded rudder top and the mixed cannon and machine gun armament. Mk 21s had 4 cannons, a pointier rudder and never had the bubble canopy. Al_in_Ottawa
I've never been much of a car guy. Must be because they are only controllable in one axis. But that would be a fun car to drive around in. The Spit would be a blast. They say that they are the best pilot's airplane around. For now I have to settle for the flight sim version.
It always amazes me about the number of people who know nothing who feel like they need to spout off about things they know very little about. About aircraft, specifically.
5-blade prop?? Gotta be AI.
ReplyDeleteI think you are AI acting dumb so others will come along to feed you correct information.
DeleteRight.
DeleteBecause no one would ever put after-market parts on a vintage warbird.

No, it's (I think) a Mark 9 with a more powerful engine, over 400 mph in level flight.

ReplyDeleteLots of Zoom Zoom!
ReplyDeleteBe cool (if it were feasible) to put a Griffon in that (427?) Cobra. I think Griffons powered some super speedboats.
ReplyDeleteNo XXI ?
ReplyDeleteMk XXI. Damn spellcheck
ReplyDeleteWith an AC Cobra.

Probably a Factory Five Cobra kit car. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm a purist.
ReplyDeleteThe paint jobs should match.
Awesome pair.
