What I should be doing instead of what I'm actually doing

  1. Looks like the Hobie Cat I sailed when I was young. Lots of fun.

    1. Back in 1977 I was sailing a Hobie Cat like this with New Zealand Rob off Laguna Beach when a ~35’ California Gray whale breached 50’ away from us and swam right under the keel. Missed us by about 6’. We almost pissed ourselves, but it was a rush.

  2. That edge of safety GRIN.

    Don't pitch pole tho.

  3. The wife and I used to race. We started with a sixteen like this fellow is sailing and quickly found that an eighteen suited us much better. Three years of great fun came to an end with the coming of the first kid.

  4. Oh, I don't know. If what you're doing today is smoking meat, taking a nap after falling asleep while reading a good book while on a couch next to a warm fire in the wood stove on this rainy day or looking forward to eating a sumptuous dinner of said smoked meat, I'd say you've made a good choice.

    1. Spooky comment, Elmo. The wife and I just woke up from a nap, with a fire in the fireplace, and I'm smoking a tri tip right now for dinner. Great minds think alike?

    2. You Sir, along with Mrs. CW, are living la dolce vita. Enjoy and appreciate. I salute you both.

    4. To continue, the sun just broke out, illuminating the moist earth from the recent rain with the very light of God. Gorgeous. Can heaven be much better?

  5. I had a 16ft Hobi in the late 70s and had a sweet, beautiful lady to sail with me in south Florida! Many adventures and exotic memories! We went out separate ways she became a model and I went sailing for 28 years around a fair part of the world! Yes there were plenty of beautiful Islands and exotic lands and of course beautiful women!

  6. Reminds me of the times I crewed for a work buddy on his NACRA catamaran on the lakes of Michigan, back in the early 90's. Lots of fun. He passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease somewhere in the early 2000's. RIP, Robert.

  7. While that looks like a lot of fun in the moment, the total lack of any emergency or safety gear for any one of 27 predictable "Oopsie!" moments bespeaks the irresponsible carefree childishness of a mental midget.

People like this will keep Social Security solvent.

  8. He has a life jacket and wetsuit on. That's plenty of safety gear for a little catamaran.
