And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Being a sci-fi fan, I took my wife to see Alien in 79. She swore she would never go to see a movie with me again. She's pretty stubborn so I've not had to suffer through a rom-com or a musical for the last 46 years. Sometimes things just work out better than you could ever imagine! Bubbarust
I've found that the longer I watch Tubi, the longer and the more frequent the commercials are getting. It used to way better than the other 'free' sites (pluto, freezee etc.) now not so much.
I wanted to watch a series (The Rookie), it was on Hulu so I started. Then the commercials started... oh my! I timed them for a couple of episodes and did the math for 5 seasons, no way was I going to spend that much of my life to watch commercials while I was watching reruns. I bought the series on DVD, not expensive at all when I'm saving that much time.
I've often wondered the same thing myself. Those horizontally striped shirts were the best, and every time I see one today it carries me back to when times were simple and kids were safe being kids.
great period for some the sci-fi. We caught up in outer space world. Watching in the movies then was awesome. theaters packed on Saturday 2 different movies, plus cartoons and matinee reel all for 25 cents. giant candy bar was 10 cents.
The Monsters of Id.
ReplyDeleteYou can see Roby The Robot at the Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteAnne Francis.
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT, indeed. Always on my Top Ten, at least.
ReplyDeleteJust saw it again very recently. It holds up so remarkably well! It's like sci fi produced this movie, then went back into mothballs until Star Wars.
Star Wars. Feh.

roughly "The Tempest" in structure. early big budget sci-fi, "This Island Earth" and 'The Day the Earth Stood Still" a couple others.
ReplyDeleteFP has an exclusively electronic sound track.
early pairing of Anne Francis and Earl Holliman; Jack Kelly and James Drury are in the cast.
