And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was a career FF for 36 years. We worked 24 hour shifts. averaged out at 42 hours a week. 8 day rotating schedule. say start Monday 8 AM, work until Tues 8 AM. then 24 hours off. start Wed 8 AM get off Thursday 8 AM Then get off from Thurs 8 AM until Tuesday 8 AM. Return to work Tuesday at 8 AM. It was a great schedule but if we were busy it was a ballbuster. Also never could count on a holiday with the family. I missed a lot of Christmas/Thanksgivings, etc. Always had big dinners at the firehouse however. I loved my job and the guys I worked with. How many people can say that.
A friend said in his young drunk days he pushed an empty cart with his car up to about 50 MPH and watched it get about ten feet of altitude when it hit the curb.
Just had to rub it in didntcha….
