And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's a beautiful photo! My parents moved to and bought the farm I grew up on in 1946. More mules in this area of Pa. than horses at that time. Neighboring farmer owned two named "Gin" and "Tops." My dad asked why he used them instead of horses. He said mules were smarter. If they knew something was too heavy for them to pull, they wouldn't continue to try, but horses would and wind up hurting themselves. No idea if there's any truth to that. Input anybody?
