And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

She's listed as the last surviving dreadnought battleship from the early 20th century, was refloated and repaired and is now a museum docked in Houston. Those old ships from that period were fascinating! Built a few models of them when I was a kid.

During D-day in WWII the USS Texas counter flooded herself in order to give her guns more range to push back the Germans. One badass ship!
ReplyDeleteIt just got out of drydock in Galveston and is continuing its $75mm restoration. Still looking for a home, though.
