And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Absolutely one of the best 'drives' in the USofA to experience at a leisurely pace by car (convertable preferably) or motorcycle, in the off-season, before snow, in my experience. Thanks for the beautiful reminder, CW.
Awesome road! It was a planned part of our motorcycle trip a couple years back when flooding hit the area just a few days before we got there. Though we couldn't connect through on the Beartooth as planned we still did the ride out and back on the Chief Joseph. Well worth the extra time and the required backtrack. Got some great bike pics with Pilot Peak in the background.
That doesn't look like anyplace that I can recall and I drive Chief Joseph Hwy three or four times a year. (And the road isn't good enough. Or too good. I've driven it when it was still gravel.) This is a legit picture from the top of Dead Indian Pass looking north, to give an overview. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/F0jmwt0wv50/maxresdefault.jpg

ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice leisurely drive. An old station wagon and lunch on the tailgate.
