And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Absolutely, Old Guy. The freedoms we've lost in the last 40 yeas are mind-boggling. And those lost freedoms have been detrimental to the greatness of our once wonderful nation. Sad, that.
"Lost freedoms"??? Not to argue with you but far too many "Me First" butt wipes think that they are entitled to any and all so-called "Constitutional Rights" that let them do and say anything that they want while acting like spoiled brats and claiming to be "victims" since they "feel" as if they have no personal responsibility to their untoward actions and words.
If we had less "freedoms" and more personal responsibility to be good citizens, this once great nation would be a lot better off today.
Imagine not a box store in sight almost every business is some one running a private enterprise. It is amazing how the world got along so well without only a few oligarchs who own everything.
Look at all them stores. I count about 13 on the right. Now, 1 Walmart on the outskirts of town does all that. And personality was left in the gutters. I long for the old days of my youth.
I'm getting old enough that I miss a lot of what I had before... I'm thinking it's "one of those things that happens" if you make it past 60 or 70 years. -Shrug-
I'm so very grateful I had the enormous blessing to grow up while there was a Main Street. We all knew the value of delayed gratification, even if it was sometimes a pain in the neck. Does Amazon even have a "Lay Away" plan? We'll never have those times again, but we can make memories that are important and teach good character to our kids and grandchildren; things that they will, one day, fondly remember, too. It's remembering that good, wholesome , American values have to be taught because -- as Regan reminded us --- it's not passed on in our genes.
I miss the country I grew up in.
ReplyDeleteAs Col. Cooper reminded us, "The past is another country. They do things differently there."
I miss the country I grew up in.
