Four Air Force Ones in one picture. Picture taken standing at the door of the CV-54 (DC-4) that was Roosevelt and Truman's, to the left is Truman's CV-118 (DC-6), way off in the middle is Ike's CV-121 Super Constellation, and the vertical stabilizer popping up on the right is Kennedy's Cv-137 (Boeing 707)

Thanks, Jim!

  1. It's only Air Force One when the President is on board.

  3. Ok, presidential aircraft. When I say “presidential aircraft” it does not spark the same interest as Air Force One. I took the picture and sent the description.

    1. Some folks just aren't happy until they poke their finger in someone's eye. Primarily the term AF1 is for radio communications from the air crew to other aircraft and Air Traffic Controllers. It is still correct to refer to these planes as having served as "AF1." And that's a great photo you took. I visited the museum a couple years ago and felt a certain reverence while walking through each one, especially JFK's bird. I was 3 years old at that time and remember watching his funeral on my grandmother's television.
