  4. They don't expire every 3 years like the flares, which are hazardous material. No one in Georgia or Alabama accepts used or expired flares. If you get a Coast Guard Vessel Safety Inspection you only have to demonstrate the batteries can turn the light on (recommended to replace annually).

    1. Find a sea scout ship? Went to a scout training where all the youth got to fire off one marine flare. All were expired and needed disposal, and yes the local coast guard was notified when each group was being fired off.
