  2. Wow. $1500 for a bench top drill. Despite the implied claim, not constant torque or anything like it- BLDC motor, variable speed, no belts. Absurd price for a bench drill. And by the way, it's a 7" drill, not 15". The ad cites "swing", not "column to center", although it's now common to do this. Standard bench drill size, in other words.. For comparison: used Delta 16 to 20" floor models can be had for around $300; 2+ hp, decent speed range, actually drill to the center of a 30"+ piece of stock, etc.

    2. For 20 years I've been using Delta's smallest drill press (DP100?) and it works fine for 90% of my tasks. Won't turn a 2" spade in hard wood though. Everything has it's limits.

  3. do yourself a favor. get a floor standing drill press. there just is no room for a cross vise, the item being drilled, and a drill bit on a benchtop, even a very large one.
